Rescue the Lost

Salt and Light-Reaching and Loving the Lost

Posted by

The Church is called to be the salt and the light to the world. The follower of Jesus Christ are to have a strong influence on their surroundings. The salt is used to flavor the food immediately and to preserve the food for long-term. The true believers–those who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ–are to promote goodness and stand against the corruption and the moral deterioration in our culture. Those who lose their purpose are as useless as the salt which loses its taste and is thrown out. The light is opposite of darkness; when the light shines, the way is shown to those who are lost and have been buried under the burden of gloom. According to Jesus Christ, His followers are to give spiritual light to the world; where, the Son of God and His work is made visible to those who are around them for the glory of God through their lives.

Called to Rescue

The follower of Jesus Christ are called to reach out to those who do not know Christ personally and help them understand the faithfulness and Love of God. However, we have lost the sense of urgency in this matter and have failed to reach out to those who do not know Christ completely. How can we come back to what God has called us to?

It starts with the knowledge of God

The sense of this urgency is embedded in the knowledge of God. We must know who God is in order for us to understand why it is necessity of reaching out to those who do not know Christ and do not have a personal relationship with Him.

Why Jesus Christ came into this world?

The Pharisees and the religious leaders during the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ were hunting to find the answer, why Jesus Christ came into this world. Jesus Christ, reveals to His disciples and those who were around Him that the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. In other words, Jesus Christ had a unique purpose, humanity was perishing and He came to rescue them by being the atoning sacrifice and restoring those who place their faith and trust in Him back to God.

Imitating Christ

If Christ came into this world to seek and save the lost, why are the believers in this world today. The believers are here to imitate Christ and be that salt and light in the world, in other words, the believers are here to now rescue those who are lost by introducing them to Christ dynamically. Those of us, who are in the life boat of Jesus, we must help those who are drowning and headed for destruction to come and find the everlasting life as we did. It is our calling and we are not alone in this spiritual endeavor; the God of this universe is working along side us and we are His people.

Let us serve Him boldly and proclaim the message of the gospel to the lost world. We are praying for you and we covet your prayers as we continue to glorify the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in our lives and bring many to the saving grace of our Lord and Savior.
